Professional, Setting & Corporate Support

Creating Workplaces & Organisations Where Neurodivergent People Can Thrive

Neurodiversity inclusion is about much more than awareness.

It is about creating environments, systems and cultures that recognise that different brains communicate, process information, regulate, organise and work differently.

I’m Alison Wombwell, a Neurodiversity Specialist, accredited Coach and Trainer, Support Practitioner and published author.

I provide specialist neurodiversity consultancy, training and individual employee support to businesses, organisations, educational settings, charities and professional teams.

With over a decade of professional experience across mental health, care and neurodiversity, alongside my own lived experience as an Autistic and ADHD woman, my approach brings together professional knowledge, practical application and genuine understanding of what neurodivergence can look like within the workplace.

Whether your organisation is beginning its neuroinclusion journey, supporting an individual employee or looking to develop more inclusive practice across an entire workforce, support can be tailored around your organisation.

The aim isn’t simply to become a neurodiversity-aware workplace.

It’s to become a workplace where neurodivergent people can actually work well.

Workplace Neurodiversity Consultancy

Turning Good Intentions Into Practical Change

Many organisations want to become more neuroinclusive but aren’t sure what that should look like in practice.

A policy alone doesn’t create inclusion.

Neither does a single awareness session.

True neuroinclusion requires us to consider the everyday experience of employees — from recruitment and onboarding through to communication, meetings, workload, sensory environments, management practices, progression and wellbeing.

I can work with organisations to review current practice, identify potential barriers and develop practical, realistic recommendations.

Consultancy may explore:

• Recruitment and interview processes
• Employee onboarding
• Workplace communication
• Management approaches
• Meetings and information processing
• Executive functioning demands
• Workload and prioritisation
• Sensory environments
• Flexible and hybrid working
• Reasonable adjustments
• Performance management
• Absence and return-to-work processes
• Neurodivergent burnout
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Disclosure and psychological safety
• Staff retention
• Organisational policies and procedures.

Rather than asking:

“How do we help this employee fit our workplace?”

I encourage organisations to consider:

“What barriers within our workplace are preventing this employee from performing at their best?”

Workplace Neurodiversity Training

Moving Beyond Awareness

I provide bespoke neurodiversity training for managers, HR professionals, occupational health teams, employees and wider organisations.

Training can be delivered online and tailored to the needs of your organisation.

Topics can include:

Understanding Neurodiversity in the Workplace

Autism, ADHD, AuDHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Tourette’s and other neurodivergent profiles.

Autism in the Workplace

Understanding communication, sensory processing, predictability, executive functioning, masking and workplace barriers.

ADHD in the Workplace

Understanding attention regulation, working memory, task initiation, time blindness, hyperfocus, organisation and emotional regulation.

Understanding AuDHD

Exploring the often-conflicting experience of being both Autistic and ADHD and why conventional workplace strategies may not always work.

Masking & Neurodivergent Burnout

Recognising the hidden cost of appearing to cope and identifying earlier signs that an employee may be struggling.

Sensory Processing in the Workplace

Understanding how noise, lighting, temperature, movement, smells, workspace design and interruptions can affect regulation and performance.

Executive Functioning at Work

Practical approaches to planning, prioritisation, deadlines, task initiation, working memory and workload management.

Communication & Neurodiversity

Reducing misunderstandings and creating clearer, more accessible communication across teams.

Managing Neurodivergent Employees

Practical training for managers around communication, feedback, reasonable adjustments, performance, strengths and support.

Neurodiversity & Mental Health

Understanding the relationship between neurodivergence, anxiety, overwhelm, masking, burnout and workplace wellbeing.

Training is designed to be practical, engaging and relevant to real workplace situations, rather than simply presenting diagnostic criteria.

Neurodiversity & Mental Health Support in the Workplace

Looking Beyond Performance

Neurodivergent employees can be highly skilled, knowledgeable and committed while simultaneously experiencing significant difficulties that remain invisible to colleagues.

An employee may appear organised while spending hours outside work trying to keep up.

They may contribute confidently during a meeting and then require significant recovery afterwards.

They may meet every deadline while experiencing increasing anxiety, sensory overload or burnout.

High performance does not automatically mean low support needs.

My workplace support considers the interaction between neurodivergence, mental health and the working environment.

This can include support around:

• Anxiety and overwhelm
• Emotional regulation
• Masking
• Neurodivergent burnout
• Executive functioning
• Sensory overload
• Rejection sensitivity
• Perfectionism
• People-pleasing
• Communication difficulties
• Workplace relationships
• Managing change
• Returning to work following absence or burnout
• Sustainable working practices.

The focus is not on diagnosing or treating mental health conditions.

It is about understanding how neurodivergence, wellbeing and the workplace environment interact and identifying practical support.

Workplace Neuroinclusion Audits

How Neuroinclusive Is Your Workplace in Practice?

An organisation can have excellent equality policies and still contain everyday barriers for neurodivergent employees.

A Workplace Neuroinclusion Audit looks beyond written policy to consider what it is actually like for a neurodivergent person to work within your organisation.

Depending on the level of audit required, this may explore:

Recruitment & Selection

Are job descriptions, application processes and interviews unnecessarily creating barriers?

Onboarding

Is information clear, structured and accessible? Do employees understand expectations and who they can approach for support?

Physical & Sensory Environment

Lighting, noise, workspace layout, temperature, interruptions, movement and access to quieter environments.

Communication

How are instructions given? Are expectations explicit? Is important information available in writing?

Meetings

Are agendas provided? Is processing time considered? Are employees expected to contribute immediately or can they follow up afterwards?

Management

Do managers understand neurodivergence and reasonable adjustments?

Workload & Executive Functioning

Are priorities clear? Are employees supported with competing deadlines and changing expectations?

Workplace Culture

Do employees feel psychologically safe discussing neurodivergence and requesting support?

Policies & Processes

Are neurodivergent needs considered within absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, wellbeing and return-to-work processes?

Following the audit, organisations can receive a Neuroinclusion Profile and practical recommendations highlighting strengths, barriers and priority areas for development.

Individual Workplace Neurodiversity Profiles

Understanding the Employee Behind the Diagnosis

A diagnosis tells an employer very little about what an individual employee actually needs.

Two employees with ADHD may require completely different adjustments.

Two Autistic employees may experience completely different sensory, communication and executive functioning needs.

I can work individually with neurodivergent employees to develop a personalised Workplace Neurodiversity Profile.

This can explore:

Strengths

Communication preferences

Executive functioning

Attention and concentration

Sensory processing

Emotional regulation

Information processing

Working memory

Time management

Transitions and change

Meetings

Workload

Environmental barriers

Masking

Potential reasonable adjustments

The aim is to move beyond:

“This employee has ADHD/Autism.”

towards:

“This is how this individual works best.”

Reasonable Adjustment Passports

Making Support Clear, Consistent & Sustainable

Employees shouldn’t have to repeatedly explain their neurodivergence every time they change manager, role or team.

I can support employees and organisations to develop personalised Reasonable Adjustment Passports.

These can provide a clear record of:

• The employee’s individual needs
• Workplace barriers
• Communication preferences
• Sensory needs
• Executive functioning requirements
• Agreed reasonable adjustments
• Helpful management approaches
• Signs that the employee may be becoming overwhelmed
• Strategies that support regulation and performance
• Arrangements for reviewing adjustments.

A good adjustment passport isn’t a list of special treatment.

It is a practical agreement about what helps somebody perform their role effectively.

Workplace Sensory Profiles

Sensory processing can have an enormous impact on an employee’s ability to concentrate, regulate and work effectively.

Yet it is frequently overlooked within workplace support.

I can complete an individual Workplace Sensory Profile exploring areas including:

Auditory processing – conversations, phones, office noise, alarms and background sound.

Visual processing – lighting, screens, visual clutter and movement.

Touch – uniforms, PPE, seating, proximity and unexpected contact.

Proprioception & Movement – movement needs, posture and opportunities to regulate physically.

Smell & Taste – shared kitchens, perfumes, cleaning products and workplace environments.

Temperature – heat, cold and difficulties regulating body temperature.

Interoception – recognising internal signals including hunger, thirst, fatigue, stress and toileting needs.

Recommendations can then be developed around the employee’s individual working environment.

Reasonable Adjustments & Access to Work

Sometimes both the employee and employer know that something needs to change but aren’t sure what adjustments would actually help.

I can support neurodivergent employees to identify and articulate their workplace needs and explore appropriate reasonable adjustments.

This may include adjustments around:

• Written instructions
• Additional processing time
• Meeting structure
• Flexible working
• Home working
• Noise reduction
• Workspace positioning
• Lighting
• Regular breaks
• Task management systems
• Prioritisation
• Predictability
• Communication
• Supervision
• Coaching
• Assistive technology
• Changes to working practices.

I can also provide specialist coaching and support where an individual is receiving or applying for Access to Work support.

1:1 Workplace Neurodiversity Coaching

Supporting the Individual, Not Just the Organisation

I provide individual coaching for neurodivergent employees who may benefit from ongoing support.

Sessions can focus on:

ADHD & Executive Functioning

Planning, prioritising, organisation, task initiation, time blindness and managing competing demands.

Autism & AuDHD

Understanding individual needs, communication, predictability, sensory processing and the interaction between Autism and ADHD.

Workplace Communication

Preparing for meetings, asking for clarification, communicating needs, managing misunderstandings and self-advocacy.

Emotional Regulation

Recognising overwhelm, managing difficult workplace interactions and developing personalised regulation strategies.

Masking & Burnout Prevention

Recognising the hidden energy cost of work and developing more sustainable ways of working.

Confidence & Self-Understanding

Moving away from deficit-based thinking and recognising both strengths and support needs.

Coaching can be commissioned directly by an organisation or accessed by an individual employee.

Manager & HR Consultation

Sometimes a manager doesn’t need another training course.

They need to be able to ask:

“I have a neurodivergent employee who is struggling. What can we do differently?”

I offer consultation sessions for managers, HR professionals and organisations to explore individual workplace situations from a neurodiversity-informed perspective.

This can help organisations understand potential barriers, consider reasonable adjustments and develop practical approaches while respecting the employee’s confidentiality and individual circumstances.

Neuroinclusive Recruitment & Onboarding

Organisations can unintentionally lose talented neurodivergent candidates before they’ve even entered the workplace.

I can review recruitment and onboarding processes to identify unnecessary barriers.

This can include:

• Job descriptions
• Application processes
• Interview formats
• Interview questions
• Communication with candidates
• Disclosure processes
• Reasonable adjustments at interview
• First-day expectations
• Induction programmes
• Training materials
• Probation processes.

The aim isn’t to make recruitment easier.

It’s to make it fairer and more accessible.

Bespoke Professional Consultancy

Every organisation is different.

You may not need a complete workplace programme.

Perhaps you have one employee requiring support.

Perhaps your HR team needs advice.

Perhaps managers need training.

Perhaps you want an independent review of your current neurodiversity provision.

Or perhaps you’re beginning from the question:

“We want to become more neuroinclusive — where do we start?”

Support can be commissioned individually or combined into a bespoke organisational package.

Support can range from a single consultation or training session through to ongoing organisational consultancy.

Why Work With Me?

I bring something slightly different to workplace neurodiversity support.

I understand neurodivergence professionally.

But I also understand what it is like to be neurodivergent within a workplace.

As an Autistic and ADHD woman who received her diagnoses in adulthood, I understand masking, sensory overload, executive functioning difficulties and the enormous amount of invisible energy that can go into appearing capable.

Alongside this lived experience, I bring over a decade of professional experience within mental health, care and neurodiversity, specialist coaching and training qualifications, and extensive experience supporting neurodivergent individuals.

This allows me to work with both sides of the conversation.

I can help the employee understand and communicate their needs, while helping the organisation understand how it can respond effectively.

Because neuro-inclusion shouldn’t mean expecting the neurodivergent employee to do all of the adapting.

The workplace needs to be willing to adapt too.

Build a More Neuroinclusive Workplace

Whether you need specialist support for an individual employee, neurodiversity training for your workforce, a workplace sensory profile, reasonable adjustment support or a wider review of your organisation’s approach to neuroinclusion, I can develop support around your needs.

You don’t need to know exactly which service you require before contacting me.

Tell me what is happening within your organisation, and we can identify the most appropriate starting point.
